Enjoying the Practice of Retreat

Last Friday we were blessed to retreat for a day at a beautiful ranch in Valle de Los Angeles (Valley of the Angels) with 27 Jubilee Staff and our friends and teacher trainers Jeff and Kathy DeJong. As the vans wound through the mountains, vendors on the side of the road were shucking elotes or corn on the cob, displaying brightly painted clay pots and beautiful plants and flowers.

As we walked through gardens of hibiscus, ginger, bird of paradise, and majestic trees we began worship with singing and followed with a meditation from Isaiah 55. We journaled and shared what we heard from God.

Later on we prepared some fun skits about life at school, and sometimes exagerated situations!  We didn’t realize the quality of actors and actresses we have on staff!

By noon, we were eager to eat a delicious plate of rice, beans, plantains and steak! With our hunger satisfied, we strolled around the grounds to visit horses and deer, take photos, or play soccer.

The final game was literally a blast! A confetti-filled balloon was was pumped with air, right over our heads, while we attempted to answer a question. Afterwards we gathered in a circle to say share some last thoughts. Sweet prayers of thankfulness and blessing were exchanged!  Once again, we experienced God’s love, His refreshment and encouragement, and beautiful communion with the Jubilee staff.
