Guest Writer – Lydia Soper

Hello! My name is Lydia Soper and I am a senior at Trevecca University in Nashville, TN studying social justice and nonprofit management. However, this semester I am studying abroad with Calvin College’s Honduras Justice Semester. As a part of this semester, we are able to choose an organization that we wanted to do a practicum with for 2 weeks. I chose Jubilee! I first learned about Jubilee through their event in Grand Rapids and through relatives that support the organization, and after hearing Jubilee’s story and the work they are doing in Honduras, I was set on doing my practicum here. I have been spending part of my time observing classrooms and tutoring students in English, and the other part writing blogs and email updates for Jubilee! I am humbled to be a part of such a transformative organization and to have the opportunity to learn from the staff and students here. It is already evident that Christ’s presence shines brightly in this place.

We enjoyed having Lydia spend some time with us! We are thankful for her service and hope to see her sometime soon again!
