As a New Year rolls around, so does a new school year for us at Jubilee! The Honduras school calendar is from February to November! We are so thankful to have our classrooms full of the love, joy and laughter of our students again!
We began school during the first week of February, and we were welcomed with many anxious and excited students! We currently have 240 students enrolled, ranging from PreK to 6th grade and 32 of our 7th – 9th grade graduates who are part of our Middle School Support Program.
Jubilee is celebrating the 10 year anniversary this year! We have watched God work in powerful ways, growing and richly blessing Jubilee’s ministry and its expanse of reach over the past decade in miraculous ways! We remain convicted in our call and vision to grow and invest in this community even more!
Over 10 years, we certainly have had our share of trials, losses, triumphs, successes, hills, and valleys. But the one who has carried us through it all has been the Lord. This year, our theme verse is Nehemiah 8:10, “Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” It is His joy and strength that has carried us through everything, especially the trials, losses, and valleys.
One exciting and new thing we are doing this year is subject specialization model for our 4th – 6th graders. In the past, our 4th – 6th graders have received all the basic subjects (math, language arts, social studies, and science) from the same classroom teacher. However, this year, students will receive classes in each subject from a different teacher dedicated to that subject. We believe that this will better help prepare our students for Middle School, our school for our upcoming Middle School and also allow our teachers to prepare and specialize in one subject area.
We are excited and ready to see what The Lord has in store for this year, as He has already been working at Jubilee!
