Jubilee’s English classes are taught by Ms. Hayley Wilson, hailing from Birmingham, AL. Over the last few weeks, students have been learning family unit vocabulary. Being able to speak English is an important skill for many professions in Honduras and can help allow students have much greater opportunities in the future. Hence, one of our goals within the English program is that students will not only be introduced to reading and writing in English, but they will grow some confidence in speaking and understanding English. We do this through song, through conversation, video, and listening to the teacher try to teach in English as much as possible.
But we also are pushing students to speak in English through oral presentations. This month of June, students were asked to bring in a family poster and present the names, ages, and physical descriptions of their family members in front of their class.
We have been really impressed by their work and the ability that many of them already have to speak a lot of basic sentences! Keep up the good work Ms. Wilson & students!
