Jubilee’s 10th Year Anniversary Celebration Event: JOY!

We here at Jubilee are overJOYed to be celebrating ten years of ministry to God’s children and families in La Era, Honduras!  For those of you who were able to attend our celebration event recently, whether it was in person or via our live video, we thank you for your participation and dedication!  We are so grateful for the very many people who worked diligently to make the birthday party themed evening a success!

In addition to our normal display of newsletters, this year we also showcased brochures promoting our July 11-18th mission trip (contact hbreuker@jubileehn.org if you want more information) and information on how to buy your own Jubilee logo wear T-shirts and sweatshirts (click here for the link). Local author, Patty Stoner, was present to autograph copies of her book, The Christmas Stairs, and generously donated profits from the sales to Jubilee (click here to purchase).  Lastly, we had a little photo booth set up where many took advantage of the photo op, perhaps posting their pictures to their favorite social media sites to help get the word out about Jubilee!

The tone of the evening was definitely JOY-filled as each speaker reflected not on what Jubilee has done, but on what God has done in the last ten years.  It would be easy to measure the success of Jubilee by the size of the school building, by the number of students, or by financial contributions. However, none of these is on God’s ruler.  God measures our success by the size of our love for others, the number of hearts changed, and by the contributions of our time, talents, and gifts. As long time attendee and supporter, Bill Haroff stated, “I was most moved by hearing how a Christ centered learning environment has touched the lives of so many students, teachers, and their families, too. It was truly inspirational to hear their testimonies.”  Indeed, we rejoice in the work that God has done in the lives of so many, and we are humbled to be counted among His servants.

First time attendee and former missionary to Bolivia and Peru, Beth Blackbird said she was absolutely captivated listening to the history of Jubilee.  She indicated, “I was just amazed to hear of how God’s hands have been upon this ministry providing for its every need and making straight its paths even in the midst of the many challenges.  It is beautiful to serve in a community where people have so very little that they truly do rely on God to meet their every need. And, He always does. Jubilee is definitely a witness to that. I am thankful I was able to be here tonight.”

We, too, are so thankful–thankful for the love and support of so many who allow us to keep being the hands and feet of Jesus.  We are thankful for provision and for the anointing that is upon us “…to proclaim good news to the poor… to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives, and release from darkness for the prisoners”  (Isaiah 61:1). Truly the Spirit of the Lord is on each of us, and this is a calling that we do not take lightly. Again, we thank you for partnering with us in sustaining and furthering God’s work at Jubilee! Let us go out in JOY to advance His Kingdom!
